Optional Activities
Desert Elephant Safari Embark on a safari to see Namib desert elephants in the wild, a once in a lifetime opportunity. These hardy elephants are smaller than standard African elephants, and have evolved to make the most of their extreme environment, with larger ears to aid their cooling and broader feet that help them dig for precious water in soft riverbeds. Your guide will use fine tracking skills as well as information from the indigenous Damara people to bring you to safe watching distance of these wondrous creatures. Unlike the large herds of the savanna, desert elephants travel in small groups due to scarcity of resources, so it may take some time to find a group to observe. Afterwards, enjoy a refreshing drink in the bush before returning to your lodge. During this tour, you may come into proximity of wild animals whose actions can be unpredictable. Certain inherent risks are involved which should be considered at your own discretion. Sightings of the animals cannot be guaranteed. Approximate tour duration is 3.5 hours. OnDay : 7 Price : $59 Half Day Mondesa Township Tour This afternoon, drive to Mondesa Township, a suburb of Swakopmund, and learn about the history of the township from your local guide. Mondesa was established in the early 1950s to provide housing for blacks working in Swakopmund. During your visit, get a glimpse into everyday life in a typical Namibian township. You will have a chance to meet with some of the residents, who will introduce you to their customs and traditions. Stroll along the streets to view typical homes, small craft markets and schools. At the conclusion of your visit, return back to Swakopmund. Approximate tour duration is 2.5 hours. OnDay : 6 Price : $40
Additional Information

Additional Information: Passengers should select international flights from Johannesburg that depart no earlier than 7 PM on Day 13. The flight from Windhoek arrives to Johannesburg at approximately 4 PM. Passengers with late evening flights will have a long layover in Johannesburg airport.
