What travelers are saying

"This was a tremendous trip. Nice mix of New Zealand s spectacular scenery and cultural highlights. In Australia Cairns was interesting for culture and great barrier reef, which is unfortunetely getting bleached due to rising ocean temps. The Sydney Opera house was amazing. Our Auastralian guide was knowledgeable and very organized. Only complaint was that at 37 folks the trip was too large in our opinion."

What travelers are saying

"My husband and I booked the Yellowstone tour with Tauck expecting so much more with the accommodations, food, and tour director based on the price point. We were sadly disappointed but still tried to enjoy the experience. Rooms were dirty, food were often buffets and other group dinners with some food inedible. We noticed other tours staying in our hotels and paying much less for their tours. One positive was we never touched our luggage which was nice but my small suitcase was damaged during one transfer. Word to the wise… read their emails thoroughly as the email we received a few weeks before our trip reads like a disclaimer for poor service and accommodations."

What travelers are saying

"We've taken over 10 group tours using Cosmos and Gate1. This trip last month, 9000 was not very good. -During booking, incorrect information was given about airport-hotel transfers -The whispers (listening devices) didn't work from the get-go, so no whispers were used during the 13 day trip. - Porters are no longer hired to bring your luggage to and from your room. (Very elderly had to handle their own luggage. Our friends had to help many of them.) -A few days into the trip one couple left. At the end of the trip we found out they had covid. Cosmos did not let us know; a few people weren't feeling well and two of our friends then tested positive. -One hotel was awful and not even up to "budget" standards -Many of the stops had castles, churches... but were not included, so be sure to count that in when pricing.  don't plan to use Cosmos ever again. Gate1 is the best in my opinion. When my husband's passport was stolen, they assigned someone to go with him to the embassy, translate, etc...It was above and beyond what we expected  "

What travelers are saying

"I am a 12 time traveler with Grand Circle and OAT. But maybe no more. They are impossible to reach by phone without waiting for hours. I even tired their emergency phone number and was on hold for hours. What if I had been stranded in a foreign country? They cancelled my Eastern Europe to Black Sea Cruise in Sept 2021 and cited "covid" or "civil unrest" issues. Baloney. They cancelled because they did not sell out the cruise and lied about it to me. I know because I went with Viking during the same month with no excuses like Grand Circle gave me. Add to that they promised me a $1,000 credit on my next trip- which was to Antarctica in December. The invoice they sent me showed the credit- and 1 month later a new invoice arrived with the credit removed. Why? Another lie? Something is really wrong here with the company now and I would suggest be very careful with bookings as they are not the same company I traveled with for the past 12 years."

What travelers are saying

"We just finished the Magnificent Europe trip on Avalon and it was amazing. Truly a trip to remember. Everything was great, the staff was incredibly attentive, the excursions where done with local guides that where incredible knowledgable and friendly. The food was delicious and tailored to the local cuisine. My wife has Celiac and they would go out of their way to make sure she had Gluten Free bread, and plenty to eat. The ship was very comfortable and clean and relaxed. The other passengers became our friends and had lots of laughs and good times. Strongly recommend Avalon if you are looking for a well run ship with great staff making for a truly amazing vacation."

Getting from Paris to Giverny

The small village is located at about one hour’s travel distance from Paris and can be reached easily through the trains. You can book the tickets online or get them on the spot. The nearest train station is Saint-Lazare that is about 7 miles away from Giverny.

To cover this distance you will have to get a shuttle bus that leaves every 15 minutes for Giverny. Taxis are also waiting for passengers outside the train stations, ready to take them.

You can also rent a car from Paris directly or get down on Mantes La Jolie, the station before Saint-Lazare that has car rental service providers. However, renting a car might be more expensive and many people prefer to travel through the well-networked train system at lower costs.

Weather in Giverny

These beautiful Giverny gardens remain open 7 months of the year, i.e. April to October. Weather is pleasant throughout these months. July is peak time with more tourist crowds mainly due to being vacation time. Every month brings with it some unique kind of flowers, giving the Giverny gardens a different look every month.

If you don't like crowds, arrive early in April or May to avoid huge tourist crowds. Or you can visit in September and October when the tourists have gone back to their home. The Giverny Monet gardens remain closed for wintertime, from November to the end of March.
