first class service

My husband and I just got back from our honeymoon trip booked through Great Safaris. It was a trip of a lifetime and we were so impressed by the accommodations, food and first class service. We saw more animals than we ever expected to see and our safari guides were very knowledgeable. Our trip was two weeks and Great Safaris picked all the right spots in Kenya and Tanzania!

Safari camps in South Africa and Botswana and explored the Cape Town region.

Travel with comfort, great food, safety and wonderful game viewing experiences. First time trip to Africa for my wife and I. All the guides and boat and safari camp staff were professional and fun. The transfers and connections were seamless. The home hosted dinner near Cape Town gave fascinating perspectives on life in South Africa.

highly recommend Great Safaris

My husband and I contacted Dave Herbert at Great Safaris after our friend (who is an experienced travel agent) highly recommended him. She has traveled to Africa numerous times and has always relied on Dave to make her arrangements. Not once has she ever been disappointed. So, following her lead, we gave him a call and told him what our budget was as well as what we wanted to see for our first time there. He recommended that we go for 19 days and go on safari to Kenya and Tanzania. He then put together an incredible itinerary that included Samburu National Park, the Masai Mara, Ngorongoro Crater, Lake Manyara, and the Serengeti. We stayed in deluxe accommodations throughout. Every detail was attended to throughout our trip. Roundtrip transfers were included from small, dirt air strips to and from our lodges; private or semi-private drivers/guides took us on safari twice a day for a minimum of 7 hours per day; the food at each lodge was above average or outstanding, depending on where we were and often was included in the price of our tour; all inter-Africa flights were booked with excellent airlines (sometimes we were the only 2 passengers in the plane!); round trip flights from Los Angeles to Nairobi with a stopover in Dubai were also included in the price (we traveled on Emirates Airlines per Dave’s recommendation–definitely a good call); and we received outstanding service wherever we stayed. We highly recommend Great Safaris and Dave Herbert if you are planning your first trip to Africa or your fiftieth! He knows the continent like the back of his hand because he goes there and sends his staff there continually to ensure that what they’re selling to their clients meets their high standards. You cannot go wrong with Great Safaris!!!

WARNING. DO NOT USE ABERCROMBIE AND KENT

We booked our bucket list trip to Southeast Asia, we were scheduled to depart on March 4th. That’s when the Corona Pandemic was becoming rampant worldwide. We were reaching out to them constantly during the weeks beforehand, looking to reschedule or cancel our trip due to the travel hazards. We were shocked to find out there was NO understanding nor negotiating options with them or upper management. We have heard from several other friends who had trips scheduled around this same timeframe and their companies reached out to them directly and offered refunds or scheduling changes due to the Corona Pandemic. We will NEVER RECOMMEND OR USE THEM AGAIN. TRAVELERS BEWARE.

I had a great time

Just completed the A&K Southeast Asia and Angkor Wat Tour. I had a great time with Angkor Wat being the pearl of the trip. Our guide Truong was wonderful. He was the best guide I have ever had on any tour by far.

Co-founded by current CEO Geoffrey Kent in 1962, Abercrombie & Kent started out in modest fashion as an African safari operator, but quickly grew into one of the world's premiere luxury travel brands. Today they cover the globe, with 50 offices worldwide. What Makes Abercrombie & Kent Stand Out? Award-winning luxury tour operator Insider-access opportunities Focus on culture, wildlife, and history  Abercrombie & Kent is one of the world’s leading luxury travel companies. The emphasis is very much on luxury here -- whether it’s small-group travel (limit of 18 per group), tailor-made journeys, expedition cruises, train travel, African safaris, European barge cruises, or any of its many other offerings, just about everything A&K arranges is top of the line. They are specific in their travel style, promising superior and attentive service, comfort, and cultural exploration. While this may seem exclusionary - and the prices are quite a barrier to entry. Luxury travel might have a reputation for being swanky and even perhaps a bit dull, particularly for those who travel for adventure, the image being a glass of champagne all day long, moving from meal to meal, sitting on the private deck of a cruise ship. This perspective is a misnomer however, as there is quite a bit of action available on tours with Abercrombie & Kent. Enjoy invigorating walks, hikes, get outdoors to remote locations, meeting local people and learning about their cultures; experience the thrill of getting up close to waterfalls, and poise your camera for the perfect shot on a safari. Then retire to your room for a cocktail before dinner. Who Will Enjoy Traveling With Abercrombie & Kent? Ages 65-75 Luxury travelers Abercrombie & Kent travelers embody an adventurous spirit, but enjoy the finer things as well. “Elegant exploration” is one way to put it. These travelers appreciate a slow pace and personalized attentive service. The age range tends to be older - baby boomers and seniors looking for a relaxing experience, with many cultural touch-points, but not overly “immersive” as their children and grandchildren might prefer. This is upper crest travel at its finest - though Abercrombie & Kent makes a concerted effort to be worldly and inviting, your experience is definitely a luxury version of any given destination. This is a travel company that offers Private Jet trips, some of which offering the chance to meet an Abercrombie & Kent family member. Think private after hours tours, exclusive outings with artisans, chefs, and winemakers; spectacular meals and accommodations that go a touch beyond comfortable. Imagine the civilized world of cocktail hour and dressing for dinner, but in the context of exploration. Perhaps you’re sipping your negroni on the deck of your private suite in Kenya, gazing out across the savannah with elephants silhouetted in the distance, against the dusty yellow sunlight of dusk. This is the wonderful travel world waiting for you with Abercrombie & Kent. The majority of A&K’s guests come from North America or Britain. A&K trips are definitely not for the budget traveler, but they offer deluxe lodgings and transport and exceptionally attentive service, which their customers value highly. Top Destinations Abercrombie & Kent made its name offering luxury small group and private safaris in Africa. Today they go around the world, but with the same luxurious approach. Luxury doesn’t mean same-old, same-old or unadventurous though. Groups head off on Antarctic expeditions or Uganda gorilla safaris, visit Tibet or Machu Picchu, join a European or Nile river cruise, or travel to India’s Pushkar Fair. You can ride deluxe trains or fly across Africa by private jet with Abercrombie & Kent. Or you can outline your own tailor-made journey under the guidance of an A&K consultant, then be accompanied by their guides throughout. Abercrombie & Kent Travel Style There could be a tendency to view Abercrombie & Kent as old fashioned when it comes to travel style. However there is a difference between old fashioned and appreciating a traditional travel style. Those who travel with Abercrombie & Kent do expect a certain kind of experience. From luggage handling to having the salad fork in the correct order, from short or non-existent lines to special assistance when needed. These expectations have become the blueprint for an Abercrombie & Kent travel experience. Transportation on an Abercrombie & Kent tour is almost always private and chartered. Exceptions would of course be rail journeys, but here you would have a private car and access to first class dining and viewing. Your journey may involve anything from helicopters, private jets, luxury coaches, and yachts. Walking is a common part of most guided tours, but you can expect simple and easy distances during your A&K itinerary. (Unless of course you are on a Gorilla Trek!). Accommodation follows a similar pattern. Luxury hotels, safari lodges, villas, you name it and it’s probably available. Why Choose a Tour With Abercrombie & Kent? Abercrombie & Kent promises to deliver an authentic, “insider” travel experience, such as seeing Machu Picchu under the guidance of its former resident archaeologist. You can even ride an elegant train to get there. In Tanzania, A&K runs its own luxury safari camps. From the time they first meet you at the airport until trip end, Abercrombie & Kent promises that your trip will go as smoothly as possible -- and that their entire global organization will be dedicated toward that goal. It may strike some as contradictory to see certain parts of the world in luxury. Some countries have luxury homes, but they are only available to tourists and travelers because the locals simply occupy a different social sphere. There is a unique dependency on tourism in much of the world. Abercrombie & Kent takes this seriously, doing their philanthropic part wherever possible, giving back to the local communities.

In praise of Audley Travel in difficult times

I approached PC at Audley with a list of where we wanted to go in Australia and the specific dates. PC accommodate all these requirements and then suggested, from her knowledgeable first hand experiences, additional visits that we may like to make and three splendid hotels to stay in. We were due to fly three days after the FCO stopped out bound flights due to Covid-19. I can imagine that Audley were hard pressed to cope with many the disrupted travel arrangements, but PC calmly rearranged the itinerary for October. Regrettably, our second venture was also hit by Covid-19. PC had said that Audley would contact us 45 days before the planned departure. She phoned 46 days before that date and introduced the conversation with ‘We are not letting you fly’, a phrase which to me showed real customer care in a particularly difficult period for the company. PC then gave us three possible alternatives arrangement. For family specific reasons we chose to have a refund, which was paid within 14 days. This was our first Audley experience. PC will organise our 2022 Australia trip and my wife and I will use Audley regional experts to plan a future visit to Sicily and Karalla.

Excellent service from Audley Travel yet again!

My wife and I booked a two week holiday to Malaysia in the autumn of 2019 and planned to travel in March 2020. This would have been our fourth long haul holiday booked with Audley Travel. We have previously been to India twice and to Costa Rica. We have had excellent service from Audley on every occasion. In February 2020, seeing what was happening in the Far East with Covid19 we postponed our trip to October thinking that it would all be over by then! Wishful thinking! We have had superb support from Izi , Senior South East Asia specialist who advised at the end of August that because of travel restrictions currently in place in Malaysia the holiday had to be cancelled and that we would have a full refund. This was we received within three weeks. Audley Travel is a great company to deal with - highly professional. We will have no hesitation in booking our next long haul holiday with Audley Travel which hopefully will be in 2021 ?

Have no fear your deposit will be returned in these difficult times

Having planned a two week trip to Japan in 2019 to travel in 2020 we decided to use Audley for the first time. The preparations were covered wonderfully with great detail and lots of information and difficult questions answered. Naturally the language being completely unknown to us we feared being left somewhere without help but this was not to be the case. Sadly whilst away in Australia the COVID-19 hit the world earlier this year. We had expected at best to get a voucher for our deposit but we had our hand held while Audley dealt with their massive problem and we have received all our deposit back. We could have tried another trip but as we are in our 70’s we decided to stay at home for another year so our money back was a better solution. Everything went as smoothly as possible considering the strain Audley were under and we thank them very much for that. Colin Cavill

An Amazing experience. As always this Intrepid trip was well…

As always this Intrepid trip was well organised and was an exciting and fascinating journey. We saw the real Cuba from Havana to Santiago and our accommodation being in homestays meant that we were really embedded with the people living in each place we stayed. Our guide, Ira, was excellent. Her knowledge of the history and geography was extensive and she dealt so well with the group and any little problems we had. My wife is gluten free and she went out of her way to make sure that everything she ate was safe, which is always a big worry for us. The tour was so varied and we saw so much of life in Cuba, the music (we had Salsa lessons), the food, the story of the revolution, the art, the cars, the daily struggles of the people themselves and their hopes for the future. I would definitely recommend it as an amazing experience and all thanks to Intrepid and their ethos of providing tours that help the local community.

Good people, places, and food.

My trip with Intrepid is what made me fall in love with Kenya. Every place we visited was beautiful and I got to tick a lot of things off my bucket list like seeing 4 of the big 5, seeing flamingos at Nakuru, and hot air ballooning. We got authentic, geniune, and non-gimmicky experience with the people we met (most specifically with the Massai at Hellens camp). The tour guide Julius was extremely knowledgeable, and so were all the other guides we encountered. I never felt wanting for information. The most pleasant and surprising experience was the food. I did not expect such delicious meals to be provided on a campsite (or side of the road for that matter). We were provided a variety of nutritional meals from our chef Jeremiah: Soups (specificallythe night we had butternut squash soup), salads, samosas, the BBQ

However, Intrepid is broad-based enough to offer many experiences such as group trips to Hawaii, complete with sipping sunset Mai Tais on Waikiki Beach. What Makes Intrepid Travel Stand Out? Responsible travel Industry experts Authentic experiences Intrepid believes that with great travel experiences comes great responsibility. They are focused on responsible tourism which includes not only treading lightly but also making a positive impact on the destinations they send travelers to. Intrepid donates to grass root projects around the world, are a carbon-neutral business and are committed to animal welfare.  Travelers can rest assured when they travel with Intrepid because they will be in the hands of industry experts. Intrepid partners with local leaders to be guides for travelers. This gives travelers first hand experiences from someone who knows the area well. Above all else, Intrepid strives to get its travelers off the beaten path and under the surface of the local culture. To accomplish this, group sizes average just 10 travelers each, with a maximum of 16 on most trips. This allows for more use of local transportation and lodging, along with fostering cultural immersion. Intrepid also employs local English-speaking leaders who act more as a resource for local exploration than do typical ‘guides,’ shepherding groups from one place to another.  Who Will Enjoy Traveling With Intrepid Travel? All ages All types of travelers Cultural enthusiasts Intrepid is one of the early pioneers of the “adventure”-style guided trip. Despite its informal beginnings and emphasis on younger, highly adventurous travelers, Intrepid has expanded to a global company with a broad range of trips to fit all ages. Intrepid divides its small-group trips into three separate styles of travel, all priced accordingly. “Basix,” for budget travelers, keep inclusions to a minimum and offer plenty of free time. “Original” journeys offer more included activities and hotels, while “Comfort” trips offer luxury experiences that include the highest level of included activities and standards of accommodation, as well as roomier vehicles. No matter what kind of traveler you are, there is a style right for your specific desires. Intrepid travelers have  a real sense of adventure - whether this means hard adventure, or simply going deeper off the beaten path. Interacting with locals is an important factor when you travel, as is gaining a unique cultural perspective. A sense of fun is also essential, whether it means going out at night with your tour mates or daring, ahem, encouraging each other to try strange new foods. Top Destinations Originally focused on small group adventure tours to Asia, Intrepid has expanded rapidly over the years, while maintaining its classic, adventurous, and immersive style. Today Intrepid Travel offers more than 1,000 different experiences in over 100 countries, on all seven continents. Regions with the most trips include Asia, South America, Africa, and Europe. Intrepid Travel Style Intrepid enjoys using local, unique forms of transportation. You might find yourself traveling by felucca in Egypt, on a camel in Morocco, or in a tuk-tuk on the best Thailand tour of your life. Accommodations, which could range from guesthouses to home stays, are also locally owned, allowing a more authentic taste of the region while contributing to the local economy. There are a few broad travel styles to choose from when deciding on an Intrepid tour: 1. Basix - Budget travelers who don’t mind, and in fact prefer, simple accommodations - camping and homestays with basic amenities, and crave a lot of free time for exploring independently will love these tours. Public transportation is used exclusively so pack light! These trips often attract a younger crowd who love the idea of throwing a backpack on, keep plenty of room for the unexpected in their schedule, and allocate their travel funds towards spontaneous bus tickets and street food instead of museum tours and 5 star restaurants. 2. Original - These trips take the backpacker spirit of local immersion, incorporating all the benefits that come with going with a planned itinerary. This style is called “Original” because it’s the type of travel that put Intrepid on the map...pun intended. Accommodations are still simple and budget minded - often homestays are used to give you a true sense of place, personality, and culture. Mostly public transportation is used. 3. Comfort - Intrepid is known for the active adventure style of travel and these trips keep that mentality, with a few more creature comforts thrown into the mix. You can expect higher luxury accommodations that include a wider variety of included amenities, transportation is mostly private, though you can still expect to use some public transport, as is the Intrepid way. More meals are included in the trip price, and more group activities - which means a bit less free time to explore on your own. Why Choose a Tour With Intrepid Travel? Intrepid is a good choice if you don’t mind foregoing some creature comforts for a truly authentic, local experience. If you enjoy meeting locals when traveling, sampling new and exciting foods, and traveling in mixed-aged groups of 10-16 people, Intrepid could be a good fit for you. It’s important to note, sometimes “ample free time” can be a blessing and a curse. It sounds great on paper, but if you’re looking to maximize your dollar and your vacation time, be sure you understand the implications of having a lot of free time during your itinerary. For some travelers this is an absolute requirement, but for others it can be tough to branch off and explore independently - you also need to make sure you allocate enough travel money for independent meals. The tour leaders are great resources of information for how to spend your free time, but if you like having a full day scheduled from breakfast to dinner, Intrepid may not be the best company for you. Lastly, if sustainable and responsible travel is important to you, Intrepid has poured millions of dollars into local economies, and has a very strong emphasis on responsible travel. So you can feel good knowing that your money helps support some of the innkeepers, vendors, and communities that you’ll meet along the way. Covid Safety Precautions Some countries are beginning to reopen to international visitors with entry restrictions while others have remained closed. This will impact trips with Intrepid as some destinations they offer may not be currently allowing travelers to visit. Some tourist attractions may also be closed or operating under restricted hours and capacity. It is best to monitor the news to keep up to date with the frequently changing situation of the coronavirus. Want more information about travel safety and the coronavirus? Expect I'm not the only one

they are 'fair weather friends' I did not receive so much as an email advising of changes in the cancellation policy, discovered when I contacted them to cancel. I now receive automated emails/msgs as I attempt to work through this. The email states I may contact them on 31 July to discuss the matter!....4 months away. I'm absolutely stunned by how shoddy this outfit is....who knew?! Out of pocket $4000. Expect I'm not the only one.

The Road to Zanzibar
The Road to Zanzibar Trip Type: Small Group Tour
With Peregrine Adventures, ‘anywhere is possible.’ Based in Australia, Peregrine has led small-group, ‘soft’ adventure-style trips worldwide for over 30 years. It was one of the first operators to employ local leaders, a practice that is now widespread in guided travel. What Makes Them Stand Out? While considering itself an adventure travel company, Peregrine promises to “smooth down the bumps and rough edges.” In short, it’s more about soft adventure with added comforts than roughing it. Group sizes are kept small, with no more than 16 travelers per trip. Its philosophy is that while “seeing the famous sites is a must, it’s those memories of wandering through a little village or sharing dinner with a local family that leave a lasting impression.” The small-group aspect allows for more time to absorb the nature of the places visited, and to make a minimal environmental impact on them as well. Who Travels With Them? While Peregrine is a global company, many of its travelers originate from Australia and New Zealand. However, their groups can be geographically diverse, with most travelers 50+ years of age. Where Do They Operate? Peregrine offers a wide variety of exciting global destinations, with 200 trips across 80 countries -- spanning from Egypt to Turkey to Canada trips! The company is perhaps best known for its Himalayan trekking excursions to far-flung destinations including Nepal, Bhutan, and Tibet. It was a pioneer in high-altitude trekking and these trips remain among their most popular today. How Does it Work? Most travel is by private, air-conditioned minibus, but you might find yourself on a houseboat in Kerala, India, a tuk-tuk in Sri Lanka, or a mountain lift on the best Switzerland tour you've ever experienced. Lodging and dining is at smaller, locally run hotels and restaurants. You might also dine with locals from time to time, and stay with local families or at campsites as well. Why Travel With Them? Peregrine is a good choice if you’re looking for a bit of a softer landing with respect to transportation and accommodations but still crave an authentic, off-the-beaten-path experience. If you’re looking for more individual travel, Peregrine will craft independent journeys, arrange self-guided walking and cycling tours, or arrange private group and tailor-made trips. It’s your choice. Peregrine also helps support various community and conservation projects via its ties with the Intrepid Foundation. Tweets by PeregrineSpirit

The unfairness of per person policy.

I am around 100’s and 100’s of people everyday at work . So when it comes to my vacation I just want some peace and quiet. Some me time. So I prefer to embark on adventures by myself . However as a solo traveler I just can’t fathom the fairness of how pricing is calculated. Same date same trip cost $1174 per person if you travel in pair for a total of $2348 . I would pay $2089 if I travel solo. So I would have to pay an additional $915 per person.. for the same trip... because I am by choice a solo traveler. The pairs total price is $259 more than mine ... for 2 people. Now that’s an expensive bed that I’m paying for just to sit there untouched. Fair or unfair ?

Beginning of this year

Beginning of this year I have booked a trip to Peru with Gate1travel for June of this year after Gate1travel had been highly recommended. Well, what can I tell you, with the Pandemic that nobody expected, the vacation including the flight was cancelled. I did get a refund for the vacation part, but I am still waiting on the refund for the airfare, which was the majority of the expense. Latham airline refers me to Gate1travel for any refunds as Gate1travel had booked the flights, and Gate1travel blames everything on the airline. And here I am, the consumer, that paid in good faith for a promise that was not kept, or for a product that was never received. While I understand the special circumstances everybody is dealing with during this Pandemic, I want to point out that it not only hit the travel industry, but any and everybody around. We are all trying to get thru those unprecedented times as good as we can, while trying to stick to our values and do the right thing. And that’s what I am hoping for, writing this message. The right thing.

Founded in 1981 with three employees and based in suburban Philadelphia, Gate 1 now employs more than 200 people worldwide with offices in 20 countries, ranging from Hungary to Cambodia, Argentina to Israel. What Makes Gate 1 Stand Out? Escorted tours & river cruises Good value  High quality guides Gate 1 offers a variety of tour packages and river cruises around the world, promising to provide exceptional value for the price. They focus on North American travelers who seek “high quality, yet affordable” guided trips, with accommodations ranging from superior tourist to moderate deluxe class. They have a lot of different choices when it comes to destinations, durations, and inclusions. Most tours have additional offerings for meals, activities, and excursions available for additional fees. Traveler reviews for Gate 1 oscillate between 5 star and 1 star experiences. Those that have had an excellent time cite the tour pacing, guides, and extensive sightseeing opportunities as positives. Those for whom these same factors contributed to a negative experience may have had higher expectations than is available or offered for the competitive budget prices that Gate 1 is known for. Who Will Enjoy Traveling With Gate 1?  All ages  Low to mid budget travelers Those open to simple accommodation and meal plans Gate 1 is the perfect travel choice for families, couples, and friend groups seeking a cost efficient journey. As Gate 1 is a strictly budget minded brand, it’s important to be fully aware of the trade-off when you choose to travel with them. You will see a lot, and be out and about visiting several sites - however keeping costs low is one of their main priorities. This means hotels will be basic, meals won’t be 5 star, and your coach will have fewer amenities. In addition tours with Gate 1 feature several optional add ons and sightseeing tours, not included in the base price. Average tour price is around $2,000, often less. If you’re flexible, open minded, and are interested in maximizing your sightseeing above all else, Gate 1 could be for you. Knowing what to expect is key for enjoying the trip to the fullest. Top Destinations Gate 1 trips cover much of the world, including destinations in North, Central, and South America, Europe, Africa, and Asia. Itineraries focus on the top sights, historical attractions, and national parks. Gate 1 Travel Style In a nutshell, the Gate 1 travel style is “see a lot for a little”. Hotels and accommodations are usually 3 star hotels. Expect basic comforts, with fewer amenities available. However if you’re the kind of traveler for whom a bed and some coffee in the morning is a fine trade-off for busy days outside and tons of sightseeing, the trade-off will be worth it.   You will be met on the ground with a dedicated tour leader, available to assist throughout your travel experience. Escorted group bus tours are a big part of their business - between 24-42 people. These coaches are again, more utility focused than amenity focused, but you will be comfortable. And in general bus tours take frequent stops to allow for stretching legs and using of facilities.   Gate 1 also offers small group tours (with a maximum of 22 people), river cruises on two continents, independent city stays and fly and drive packages, rail packages, customized vacations, and combination bus/cruise tours -- something for almost everyone interested in a budget vacation. Why Choose a Tour With Gate 1? For the budget traveler, Gate 1 is a fantastic choice. They offer several types of trip package to choose from, including rail, river cruise, and small group tours, at competitive rates. Their escorted tours are extremely popular, and customers repeat trips with them regularly. While Gate 1 is the primary brand, and they are all about giving a positive and packed international travel experience on a budget, other brands associated with Gate 1 are more premium focused. These include the Signature collection, offering luxury tour options and smaller groups.

Monograms refused to refund our deposit…

Monograms refused to refund our deposit despite the fact that our trip was canceled due to travel restrictions from the COVID-19 outbreak. I have traveled with Monograms previously and was disappointed overall with the customer service experience encountered. You would assume that by paying a premium to travel with a company like Monograms that you would receive a fair, helpful customer service experience, but this could not be further from the experience that I received. I would strongly encourage you to research companies that offer a better overall experience at a more competitive price, there are plenty!

Monograms Vacations

Monograms Vacations, a Globus Company, is refusing to offer refunds on trips they canceled due to the COVID 19 virus. When I called to request a refund, they said that the date for refunds had passed. When they had notified me of the cancelation by email, they did not mention that there was only a two week window to request a refund. Instead, the email stated in bold type "Please note that you do not need to take immediate action". I called two days after their non-disclosed deadline and was refused a refund.

Monograms, one of the Globus family of brands, offers classic vacation packages to many of the world’s most popular destinations. The company has many years of experience creating packaged tours and is based in Colorado, USA. What Makes Monograms Stand Out? It can be difficult to find a company that successfully marries two seemingly disparate ways of travel: independant or self guided and classic group travel. But at Monograms this is exactly the task they have set for themselves, and their positive reviews and large variety of products would seem to say they do a solid job. With Monograms there is no need to choose between self guided or group travel. You can personalize your experience as well - an important element for many of today’s travelers. Themes include Family travel, Food & Wine, Cruises, and Active. Monograms prides themselves on the all-inclusive nature of travel planning, pre-organizing everything from your airport transfer to your activities and meals. They also provide a Local Hosts program, which is basically like an in-destination concierge. Who Will Enjoy Traveling With Monograms? Monograms is ideal for travelers who don’t love group travel but also highly dislike the stress of arriving in a destination and having to plan everything themselves. It’s for the traveler who wants the freedom of a private couple or family getaway and the comfort of a local guide who can assist with everything from restaurant recommendations to skipping the line at major attractions. Monograms is Globus’ mid-tier brand in terms of pricing and thus travelers span across many different age groups. Many couples choose Monograms for a romantic trip to places like Italy and France, although they also offer specialized packages for families. Most Monograms packages are a mix of group sightseeing tours and independent exploration. This can result in some very large touring groups when visiting popular tourist attractions like the Louvre in Paris, for example. However, most of their trips still afford some level of flexibility to explore a destination on your own terms. Top Destinations You can travel with Monograms to many different locations in Europe, Australia, Asia, South/Central America, and Africa. Perhaps their most well-known destination is Italy, and they also offer some unique trips to Australia, specifically to areas other similar tour companies don’t operate. Monograms Travel Style At Monograms, their travel style is about providing you with a no hassle private vacation, catered to your interests. Everything from honeymoon vacations to family vacations are available through Monograms. When you use Monograms, you can elect to have the help of a travel agent, or book a pre-planned package. Why Choose a Monograms Tour? For a well rounded trip, designed for you, and with an attentive local host there to make your journey as seamless and stress free as possible, Monograms is the perfect company. These tips are mostly private, so ideal for families, couples, and honeymooners - though during some days on the itinerary you will join up with a larger group for guided day tours Monograms is all about providing personal touches, and arranging a trip for you that matches your travel style. Providing some personal input and likes / dislikes / must sees is going to take your Monograms tour from “ordinary” to extraordinary, so these trips are best suited to travelers who like to be involved with planning the itinerary.

Great if you like 5-star hotels and lots of food

The tour covered most of Switzerland, with one day in Italy, which could have been eliminated. If you want to see the country from a bus or train, and you desire luxury hotels and gourmet food, then this is the tour for you. If you want to have a closer connection to the local people, and walk a bit in the mountains, or even hear the cowbells up close, then don't take this trip. While the trip was nice, I felt a disconnect from the local people and the country itself. We were always separated in a private train car, or on a private tour. I came home not really knowing what it's like to live there, other than it's very expensive.

Still Spellbound by the Grandeur of Alaska

Focused on the amazing wildness of Alaska without worrying about the mundane details. Expert, low-key tour director made everything look easy. Excursions enhanced appreciation for the history, terrain, wildlife, peoples, boom and bust cycles that make Alaska so unique. Clear view of Denali, great weather, days 'at sea' with binoculars in hand! Most Memorable Moment: Flightseeing, Tundra Wilderness tour (clear Denali, rare wolf sighting and grizzlies in distance), crossing Prince William Sound (sea-otters, orcas, stellar sea-lions, and more), Hubbard Glacier calving, Glacier Bay entire day, Whale Watching out of Juneau, and bald eagles everywhere!

Pay for a 4 star trip and get 2 star food

My husband and I took the Treasures of the Mediterranean tour two weeks ago. The food off the ship was very good. The food on the ship was subpar (2 stars out of 4 stars). We ended up ordering French Fries at the beginning of each meal so we would at least have something to eat. I called Tauck and voiced my concerns. They offered us a $250 voucher each for another trip. I hardly think the food portion on the yacht was $250. Why would I go on another Tauck trip when my first one, which was our retirement celebration due to the poor food. The majority of the people on the trip were dissatisfied with the food and their reviews reflected it.

Founded in 1925 by Arthur Tauck, the company has blossomed from a New England motor coach tour agency to offering trips throughout the world -- by land (including rail), sea, and sometimes by air (private air charters, helicopters). But it remains a Tauck family-run business, now in its fourth generation. Quick Facts Founded in 1925 Luxury travel with a friendly touch Small groups, large groups, river cruises Solo friendly Average tour price is around $6,000 p/p Unique partnerships: BBC Earth, offering science themed nature tours, Ken Burns journeys in the US What Makes Tauck Stand Out Long legacy Classic destinations Several types of itinerary, from cruises to family trips All inclusive pricing Themed trips “No grouches or pessimists” was the plea in a 1920s newspaper ad for a small tour group. From that small automobile taking curious, adventurous New Yorkers along dusty roads through beautiful New England, Tauck has come a long way, now offering guided tours throughout the world. They look upon their legacy with immense pride, as well they should. Arthur Tauck was an immigrant who pulled himself up by bootstraps and engenuity, and his name represents a supreme, classic and classy tour experience.   Tauck is a long-established high-quality tour operator with a strong reputation as one of the top companies offering upper-mid-range to luxury group travel and river cruises for the 50+ crowd. While its staple has been European and North American land tours, Tauck has been increasingly expanding into special family trips, exotic locations, and recent award-winning European river cruising. Who Will Enjoy Traveling with Tauck? Families 50+ River cruisers History buffs Pricing is virtually all-inclusive -- no additional options that can run up costs are offered during the trips, yet this is not a place for the true budget traveler. Though they offer several different types of tours, from family vacations to river cruising, attracting and serving a diverse customer group, the legacy of tradition and comfortability appeals largely to older and middle aged travelers. Solo travelers are very welcome on Tauck trips, and pay a low single supplement. Numerous specifically solo friendly tours are offered. You’ll meet romantic singles, or simply independent minded travelers, of all ages. Large family or friend groups could find a great fit at Tauck. Particularly because if your group is 11 people, the 11th travels for free! Because of Tauck’s impressively wide reaching themes and styles for families, having several different ages will be easier to entertain than they might be with other companies. They even have dedicated “family river cruises”. So if you’re considering a multi-gen family reunion or have a large group of friends with various ages, Tauck could be a good choice. Top Destinations Tauck destinations include all seven continents -- so whether you're trying to plan an Iceland vacation or looking to take a trip to Canada, consider Tauck! Special themes may include food and wine, North American national parks, fall foliage, solo travel, African safaris, “Culturious” travel (for culturally curious baby boomers), “Bridges” (for families), and “Events,” which are considered once-in-a-lifetime travel experiences. These may feature a trip to the Kentucky Derby or journeys based around themes of Ken Burns films, with a chance to meet Burns himself. Tauck Travel Style Tauck’s travel style is all about seeing destinations in comfort, yet with a strong sense of adventure and desire to see different sides of the destination - from local life to culturally immersive activities. Land tours are where they began, and they offer hundreds of different tours of various lengths around the world. Typically accommodations are in comfortable 3, 4, and occasionally 5 star hotels. Tauck has an award winning river cruise line, covering a variety of European rivers. They strive to create an intimate setting, where customer service is not compromised. Small ship cruises use 40- to 264-passenger-size yachts and expeditionary vessels that can visit small islands and other locations that big ships cannot. The staff is known for its attentiveness and individualized service. Among Tauck’s unique partnerships is a special connection with the BBC Earth, through which they offer what they call “Earth Journeys”. These explore the natural world with emphasis on being outdoors learning the fascinating earth science behind stunning nature and wildlife. Tauck is a luxury minded brand, and their prices do tend to sit in the upper budget range. Think an average price between $5,000 and $7,000 per person. That said, they strive to reflect a friendliness and openness, and steer away from any kind of “stuffy” feeling. Their trips are comprehensive and full of enriching cultural activities, while also appreciating the value behind enjoying a cocktail hour before heading into dinner. Why Choose a Tour or River Cruise With Tauck? Tauck has an impressive array of travel styles and tours, suitable to numerous types of travelers. They are especially popular with large family groups and corporate groups, as well as very friendly to solo / single travelers. A renowned, award winning, and well established company, they seamlessly marry innovation with legacy - sticking to their roots while continuing to create unique offerings. Some of its biggest growth has come on water, where Tauck operates a fleet of seven European river boats and a number of small ship cruises. Their customer service, attentive and knowledgeable guides are definitely a key component to their popularity. Tauck offers something for just about everyone. Covid-19 Updates Tauck has an internal "Global Response Team" that is poised and ready for responding to the unexpected, from extreme weather events to outbreaks.  They have implemented stringent safety requirements for their trips going forward, training guides on enhanced protocols and health screening practices. Guests will be required to wear face coverings on all outings.

Would give 6 stars if I could

I used this company and Gate 1 in the past few years--I go about 1 week every month so I use a number of companies and also arrange some things on my own. In March I had a trip with Globus to Greece that was cancelled the day I arrived in Athens--the weekend that we closed our borders and if you wanted to get back you had to go to selected airports which meant changing all your return flights both as to days and as to routes. Talk about frustrating in that we were not the only group of people in all of Europe trying to move things around--it just took time. During that time Globus did a couple of small tours and took us out to a very nice restaurant for dinner one night and paid for all of our food at the hotel--breakfast, lunch and dinner--tried to keep us busy and fed. When I got home after 3 days of that I contacted them to find out what would happen with the funds I paid. They asked for a few days to sort things out which was ok with me. In about a week or so they called to say I would be getting 100% of the amount I paid as a credit against my credit card PLUS I was getting 100%, or the same amount as a voucher to use for any trips on any of their companies good until 2021 PLUS a "sorry" voucher for $50---200% plus $50!!! I was certainly surprised and of course VERY PLEASED. I used part of the voucher for a river cruise next June on Avalon, one of their companies and the rest as a deposit on a trip to Morocco. With the river cruise I could not reserve the air portion as the schedules were not out at the time. Once the schedules were out I found a really good flight from Delta but before I used one of my vouchers from other trips cancelled I looked at what Avalon was offering for air with my trip. Avalon had the exact same flights for $500 less (business class seats). I booked with Avalon and was given more time to pay for the flights--I would of had to pay immediately if I booked directly with Delta. Just this week--which gives rise to finally writing this all up--my trip to Morocco in Feb was cancelled. They gave me a number of excellent choices including extra funds if I took a voucher, locking in my price for the tour, etc. AND 100% of my funds returned to my credit card. They said if I wanted the funds it would take like 5 weeks to get the credit as they had a back log that were working through and they apologized for that. I read others that indicate they have issues with the company-- I have none! I understand backlogs in office work esp. now with people working from home etc. They have been above and beyond in terms of customer service with me. In comparison a very similar company Gate 1, who I said I have also used and have a number of vouchers with now, has basically closed up shop until next year--no bookings until April and even if you book a trip the flights they provide are the worst. So, I am going to be using Globus as much as possible for any tours that I can in the future and recommend them strongly to everyone else.

Fantastic Israel tour - highly recommended!

We took the Israel Escape tour in late Feb 2020. We choose the tour for the itinerary and cost, and it was simply wonderful! The itinerary ticked almost every box on our wish list, and our tour guide was simply phenomenal. Very comfortable bus and good hotels and meals. We had not been on an organized tour before - we usually plan our own independent travel - but we could never have done as much or with such expert commentary and guidance as this tour. We're hooked - we are planning our next Globus adventure!

Buyer Beware

I would give zero stars if allowed. Buyer Beware. Globus is a horrible company that does not honor products that it sells. If you plan to travel them don't book too far in advance and don't bother with their trip insurance it is useless. They did honor anything they said they would when we booked our trip. Be very careful is you use them.

Globus’ roots date back to Switzerland in 1928, when the company’s founder, Antonio Mantegazza, bought a rowboat to carry passengers across Lake Lugano, entertaining them with stories about the local sights along the way. From that modest beginning, one of the world’s leading travel companies was born. Globus is part of the Globus Group of brands, which also includes Avalon Waterways, Cosmos, and Monograms - together they carry more than a half million passengers annually. What Makes Globus Stand Out? All inclusive packages Balanced itineraries between planned activities and free time Centrally located accommodation VIP access (skip the lines and get behind-the-scenes experiences!) Founded in 1928, one of the oldest in the business, they are well respected as a mass market all-inclusive tour company that provides great value. Want free wifi on your tour bus so you can google the interesting sites you pass by? Like convenient hotels centrally located and/or with special local charm? Globus' long experience has helped them learn what makes travelers happy, and they deliver at accessible prices. Offering inclusive, budget friendly coach tours, most notably in Europe, Globus is a classic escorted tour operator ideal for those travelers seeking a comfortable and fun travel experience.   Globus tours include mostly everything in their base rates, they choose hotels that are in the heart of a city (where the action is), allow a good amount of free time to explore a destination on your own, and use knowledgeable local guides -- in short, they offer the complete package. Who Will Enjoy Traveling with Globus? Ages 50+ Low and high budget travelers Those who enjoy slower paced itineraries Globus tours are heavily aimed at active older travelers, particularly recent retirees and baby boomers in the 50+ range, as well as seniors. You have a desire to relax and feel at home, able to linger and appreciate classic sights as well as perhaps enjoy a cappuccino at a local cafe suggested by your tour leader. You don’t want to be rushed or hurried from place to place, yet are attracted to the benefits of guided travel - logistics taken care of and a guide to help keep the itinerary moving. As a long-established, award-winning tour company Globus caters to both budget group travelers and those seeking a more personalized (and costly) travel package. And since you can choose among group, individual, family, or religious travel experiences lasting anywhere from four to 29 days, Globus tours appeal to a broad range of travelers. But their sweet spot remains middle-of-the-road ‘value’ travelers. Top Destinations Today, still family owned, Globus operates in 60 plus countries across the globe, offering nearly 160 different escorted tours to Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Asia, the South Pacific, and North and South America. They are especially known for Europe and Canada Whether you're looking for vacation packages to Switzerland or the best Thailand tours, consider Globus. On European motor coach tours, Globus limits group size to 44, allowing for extra legroom on the bus. Globus Travel Style The Globus travel style is relaxed yet comprehensive. Group tours are designed to allow for personal time to explore, but with many pre-planned activities, excursions, and meals to enjoy throughout your vacation. Groups are medium size - and can accommodate large groups of friends or families. You’ll have the opportunity to meet new friends and like minded travelers. In Europe private tours are also available with Globus. for those looking to make this independent exploration possible to an even greater extent. An attentive Tour Director is never far away on a Globus trip. Globus tour directors are locals, who have input over the itinerary, lend their unique perspective, and take you to the best spots for meals, drinks, shopping, etc. They are also knowledgeable guides, introducing the culture and country’s history through visits to major sites and attractions. Globus travel style is about combining the best of “travel like a local” with the best of “classic tour sites”. Globus is not a luxury brand, but accommodations and transportation will be comfortable. Transportation is in large motorcoaches, equipped with wifi and large viewing windows. Sit back and enjoy the ride. Why Choose a Tour with Globus? Older active travelers not interested in slowing down just yet will appreciate the Globas approach. Globus makes amazing travel experiences reachable - for multiple budgets and styles. Super adventurous and independent minded travelers may be curious to explore other options before deciding on Globus. These kinds of fully escorted tours aren’t for everyone. You will have some free time, but most meals, excursions, and activities are inclusions in the price - leaving you somewhat out of luck if you don’t want to participate in a certain itinerary item. If you’re curious about group travel, other group tours provide more flexibility that could provide a more positive introduction to this style of travel. Globus offers many great perks for larger groups planning to travel. If you’re a group of eight people traveling together, you are eligible for special deals and discounts; and if you’re a group of 20 people, Globus will arrange a tailor-made itinerary for you. If you are a traveler looking for value tours and prefer a specific travel theme, then globus has trips and tours that are designed accordingly.

Excellent Experience and Excellent Guide

I would highly recommend this company and some trips to Scandinavia and Baltic. The countries are amazing, the service and our guide Ausra Paukste was really the best ever. If you wish to visit this region consider Cosmos company.

Cosmos promises to “turn your travel dreams into reality” by offering affordable tours in several parts of the world. Part of the Globus group of travel brands, Cosmos has been running escorted tours for five decades since the 1960s. It touts its clout with hotels and other travel providers as a way of keeping down costs, with savings passed on to their customers. Most expenses are included in the tours, though you may be on your own for some meals and optional excursions. Cosmos started out offering value-priced European coach tours for budget-minded travelers, and now has added North American, South American, and some Middle East and North African destinations as well. Religious-themed tours of southern Europe and Israel as well as holiday season tours are all part of the mix. The company emphasizes that when you tour Europe, for example, you’ll stay like Europeans do, eat like Europeans do, and “share the European view of Europe.” That generally means comfortable but not luxury hotels, well-chosen neighborhood restaurants, varied means of transportation, and guided sightseeing of all the “must-see” sites, with extended stays in key cities. Cosmos also offers plenty of free time to explore on your own, a way of personalizing your group tour a bit.

Dissappointing Vietnam & Cambodia

The countries are fantastic. The Hotels were great. The schedule and timing were terrible. Arriving at Siem Reap (one of the possible best parts of the whole tour) at 5:00pm we were informed it closes at 6:00pm and we would have to rush around. - 1 hour to visit !!!!. Simialrily we spent 4 days at Hoi An and Hue (relaxing!!) where ther is little to see after perhaps 4/5 hours in total. We arrived at Halong Bay at about 6pm - with no time to do anything and early the next morning we had to check out to start our trip back to Hanoi. To summarise quickly. Wherever the hotels were expensive (regardless of the local attractions) we had VERY LITTLE time (or none). Where hotels were inexpensive (Hoi An , Hue) we spent 4 nights - with very little to see of any significant nature. All the hotels were excellent and the tour guides did a great job BUT for us and a good number on our tour that wanted to see the HIGHLIGHTS of Cambodia/Vietnam we were all VERY Dissappointed. This is how Smarttours keeps prices competitive by keeping the hotel costs to a minimum.

Stars of South Africa
Stars of South Africa Trip Type: River Cruise
Known especially for its top-notch onboard regional cuisine, Ama is the only river cruise line to join La Chaine des Rotisseurs, a prestigious gastronomic society. Passengers tend to be affluent, over age 50, and interested in a mostly casual, all-inclusive experience with minimal hassle; cruise directors make sure everything runs smoothly. Good service is prized. Ama has won awards for its spacious, stylish cabin designs, and passengers can expect lots of complimentary perks: shore excursions, wine and beer at lunch and dinner, Internet access in every cabin (in Europe), and bicycles for use in port are all included in the price. Many cabins in its newer ships have both French and outdoor balconies. Originally called Amadeus Waterways when it was founded in 2002, California-based AmaWaterways later changed its name but hasn’t changed its prime customers: mostly North Americans, British, Australians, and English-speaking Europeans (English is the official language onboard). Ama has undergone rapid expansion and now cruises on three continents. Europe tops the roster, with fifteen ships sailing the Danube, Rhine, Main, Moselle, Douro, Seine, and Rhone rivers. Three ships ply the Mekong and Irrawaddy rivers in Southeast Asia, while Russia (on the Volga-Baltic Waterway between Moscow and St. Petersburg) and Africa (on the Chobe River in Botswana) each sport one ship.

Refund not given after cancelation dur to COVID 19

Wife's trip to Japan was scheduled and paid for in April, 2019. Everything on track until her trip was canceled due to COVID19. She has had three calls with OAT including two with supervisors. In each case, she was told that she could travel anytime until 2022 and that her money would not be refunded. During the latest conversation, she was told no refund due to "Force Majeure". My wife has been laid off and OAT has $8,000 of our money that they are refusing to refund. There is no way to plan a trip in 2021 or 2022 and we need the money for our monthly bills. This is unconscionable behavior. I have filed a complaint with the Massachusetts Attorney General's office and the BBB. Using Force Majeure is particularly troubling since this is not a question of them being protected for canceling our trip (which they did), but about getting our money back. Force Majeure clearly protects them from canceling due to acts of God but has nothing to due with giving them the right to keep our money. Check around: many, many reviews are being written with similar issues. This is clearly taking advantage of seniors during a global pandemic. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE PEOPLE.

Morocco in the Time of Corona (virus)

Let me begin by saying that I am a traveler who is not inclined to travel in groups, or take tours. My husband and I decided to try this OAT tour on the suggestion of several friends who raved about the company. I am so glad that we did! The size of our group - 16 - made it easy to get to know one another, and we developed an easy camaraderie thatRead more about review stating Morocco in the Time of Corona (virus) grew as the trip progressed. The pacing of the trip worked; although there were some long days, there enough stops to break up those days, often in places where we could catch a spectacular view. The visits with families and the Women's Collective brought an intimacy and a step into Moroccan culture that I could not have gotten on my own. The accommodations were wonderful, a nice mix of hotel, riad and glamping in the desert! The only negative I can think of is that it became a little tiring eating tagine. Perhaps find more restaurants, like MTouch Cafe and Restaurant in Fez, which offered wonderful food with a Moroccan twist, but had many options besides tagine. Finally, while no one could have anticipated the massive interruption that was caused by the Coronavirus, I do think OAT could have had better planning for what ensued on the trip. We had great difficulty speaking to a representative at OAT before we left, and I felt that the attempt by the company to do outreach and viable emergency contingency planning was lacking. It is definitely a live and learn situation, and I would suggest that OAT develop a clear protocol for when they will cancel or call a halt to trips, and if at all possible, outline how people could get home should an event like this occur again. That being said, I cannot say enough positive things about our guide, Nory. Personable, friendly, engaging and with an incredible knowledge of the country, he was instrumental in making the trip the success it was. He was also right there for us as things got a little crazy re: flights home, the country shutting down, and not only shared information as soon as it was available to him, but included us and our input into the contingency planning. We truly were a team by the end of this trip, trusting one another during this adventure that none of us will ever forget! Nory played a big part in making that happen, and I am grateful that I was able to have this experience with him. Thanks again!

They appeal to the old fashioned - the fact that they still offer a physical catalogue is testament - and their travel style reflects an appreciation of the classics coupled with an adventurous spirit to explore each destination deeper and from a local perspective.  Overall, prices fall into the moderate range, and are especially a bargain for solo travelers, who can save substantially by not having to pay for single supplements. Accommodations are designed to be both comfortable as well as unique and in keeping with the local spirit of the destination. If your hostelling days are over but you feel too adventurous for a standard hotel, OAT will be a great company to travel with.  OAT travelers are those with a passion for culture. They don’t just want to see a destination, they want to experience it. For these travelers, spending a day in a Maasai village in Kenya, eating dinner with a local family in Chile's oasis town and interacting with local musicians at the bustling Libertad Plaza in San Salvador, Belize is a welcomed adventure. Top Destinations OAT operates tours all over the world, specializing in remote, off the beaten path destinations. OAT Travel Style With Overseas Adventure Travel you’ll find a combination of transportation and accommodation styles, but all with an element of comfort. Groups are small, with a max of 16 (24 on small ship cruises).  Accommodations vary, but generally favor being local and non-traditional over a basic centrally located hotel. Their exact words are “emphasis on authenticity, rather than amenities”. Their style is all about unique and meaningful cultural interaction. While you’ll learn the history and see the famous sights, their true focus is about people and connections. This means you’ll enjoy meals with local families, like you’re just a friend over for dinner; visit schools and see the amazing work being done in small communities. The visceral understanding and perspective that comes from learning to cook traditional meals and make traditional crafts is what you’ll find on an OAT tour. Why Choose a Tour with OAT? OAT offers a unique up close and personal experience, guaranteeing that its groups will never exceed more than 10-16 travelers. A spirit of spontaneity is part of what makes traveling with OAT special, as they strive to take advantage of every interesting opportunity during a trip.  Traveling with Overseas Adventure Travel allows for an in depth cultural travel experience in comfort. Many opportunities exist for travelers to find deals, and it’s a great way to meet new friends in a similar age range. If you traveled extensively in your youth and are not ready to slow down, but perhaps are looking for a few more logistical ducks to be taken care of for you, OAT could be the perfect fit. They offer a variety of options for more independent minded travelers, as well as ample free time to explore and plan your own adventure during cruise port stops and on their group tours. Alternatively, if this is your first travel experience, OAT will be a great starting point. You’ll gain cultural insights, meet locals, as well as hit on all the best tourist sites that provide cultural and historical context to your destination. Grand Circle Travel always has great specials

Grand Circle Travel always has great specials and last minute specials if you can go on short notice. You can request a roommate if you travel solo to save on the single supplement but if they can't match you, you keep your room all to yourself with no single supplement fee. Always request a roommate and you might luck out either way. I went to Belgium and Holland on a 11 day cruise and saw all but three windmills in the country, actually walked inside one, went to a tulip farm and was allowed to pick tulips that the farm gave to us for free, went to a tulip auction where they auction every color, the stems, the leaves, and it all happens so quickly. After breakfast every morning there is a walking tour of the port city where we docked for the day. The tour brings you back for lunch and then you're free to explore on your own in the afternoon. Both Holland and Belgium were beautiful in the springtime with the flowers in full bloom. Bicycles are everywhere and is their main mode of transportation. You see them parked on the bridges over the canals, people riding them, families riding together, bike riders with groceries, and people walking them. The red light district was very interesting but you are not allowed to take pictures of the women. I waved to all of them as we were walking past their windows and some waved back. Plan your trip around the tulip blooming season and enjoy!

The "older sibling" of Grand Circle Cruise Line, Grand Circle Travel specializes in land tours for Americans of baby boomer age and above (fifty-plus, but leaning toward the plus). What Makes Grand Circle Travel Stand Out? Unique local experiences Expert english-speaking guides International airfare included Relaxed tour pace Community feel Grand Circle Travel was started by the founder of AARP, and as such know their demographic extremely well. Over the years they have established a solid reputation for tours and river cruises that offer good value to destinations around the world. They also foster a community of dedicated travelers, encouraging you to share your memories, images, and stories with them and the friends you meet along the way. Who Will Enjoy Traveling with Grand Circle Travel? 60+ Budget minded American Culturally curious Grandparents & grandchildren (ages 13 and up are welcome to join) Social travelers If you like the idea of joining a tight knit travel community, with frequent cost cutting options, then Grand Circle could be for you. This is definitely a travel experience well suited to older American travelers in the 60+ range, seeking a degree of comfort, in their travel experience, within a mid to high budget range.  Younger couples or families will probably feel out of place among the crowd on a Grand Circle tour. The activities, lectures, and easy pace are all designed for older travelers. If relaxing on the cruise with a book in hand for hours on end, gliding by quiet European shores is your idea of a grand old time then Grand Circle is for you! If you’d rather have a bit more action, or are after a "see a lot, do a lot" city and country hopping pace, this style of travel is probably not going to hit the right note for you. Trips are mostly all-inclusive, focusing on comfortable accommodations, informative and easy paced guided walking tours, cultural encounters, learning experiences, and special events that they call their Discovery Series. Itineraries are designed to give you more time in each stop, allowing for a more balanced combination of included activities and independent time. Solo travelers make up nearly a third of Grand Circle's customers, and they're made to feel more than welcome on group tours, including some price breaks on single supplements. Itineraries are designed for American travelers, with an aim towards immersive experiences such as visiting local homes, interesting walking tours, in-depth cultural interactions and culinary experiences. Top Destinations Grand Circle travels all over the world, with a strong focus in Europe, Aisa and Southeast Asia. They also have limited departures in Africa, South America, the Middle East, South Pacific, North America, Central America, and even Antarctica. Grand Circle Travel Style The Grand Circle Travel Style is comfortable, standard river cruises and motorcoaches. On motorcoach tours with Grand Circle you will make frequent stops to stretch your legs, and some longer stops for sightseeing. Groups are between 24-47 people, so expect some company! Because Grand Circle attracts a similar age range, you’re sure to meet new friends with like interests in no time. Hotels are comfortable and centrally located. Don’t expect extreme luxury or especially unique accommodations however. You will probably do a fair amount of walking throughout the tour - Grand Circle suggests that travelers be relatively physically fit. Most trips with Grand Circle are, unfortunately, not wheelchair accessible. Their itineraries are designed with individuals in mind. While there are several included activities, you have many options for personalization through optional extensions and plenty of free time in each destination.  Why Choose a Tour with Grand Circle Travel? Leisurely pace Flexibility Unique cultural interactions Large groups of like minded travelers Budget friendly Airfare included For the flexibility and comfort aspects, combined with unique experiences at every turn. You might find yourself sharing dinner at the home of a local family or visiting local schools. Plenty of free time is included in the itineraries, and there is a lot of choice among optional tours.

Excellent local guides,TERRIBLE customer service

I’ve travelled with CW three times. This last trip is my last. You know how you can tell how good a business is when a crisis occurs? Such was the case on my last trip. Mega hurricane in Florida caused all flights to cancelled in Miami—just the place where many of our tour group had to fly through. Not only were the staff not ahead of the game (American airlines alerted us that flights were being cancelled, and that we needed to rebook ASAP, but CW REFUSED to take responsibility). After spending the night trying to handle things on our own (which we couldn’t do because CW booked our flights), finally, the next morning someone with authority finally said they would handle it—after an employee verbally stated several times (and in writing) that they WEREN’T responsible?! Over the next few days I tried in vain to reach anyone at the office that would acknowledge what occurred was really poor. I did get to hear how this employee was “a really good longtime employee.” No apology; but an offer of $500 was made “make me happy.” Wow—my whole point was missed. We were ignored, then patronized, how utterly frustrating. Grrr! This experience was so bad that it’s taken me several months to write this review. Frankly, I kept thinking CW wasn’t worth it he time it would take me to write it. But, on the off-chance anyone reads these reviews, I actually felt responsible to warn anyone considering a booking with CW. DON’T.

We loved our CW trip to Peru!

We loved our CW trip to Peru! We had wonderful guides who were helpful, knowledgeable, and fun to be with. We especially liked the special cultural immersion opportunities created by CW such as the weaving demonstration, family visits and home-cooked meals, corn beer and coin toss recreation stop, etc. This made the trip much more meaningful and gave us more of a flavor of Peru than hiking and sight seeing alone. Everything was top notch and we knew we were in good hands for the week. Thank you for an extraordinary experience.

worst thing that you have done was merge with VBT

I think the worst thing that Country Walkers has done was merge with VBT. I don't get a real person when I call, I get agents that have no idea about what country walkers is or should be. It has turned into a numbers game and your guests are the losers. The damnation of a once good company.

We had the best time ever!

We had the best time ever! It was truly the best vacation we've ever taken. The people were fabulous, service oriented, friendly, accommodating...a pleasure to be around! Everything was just perfect! The accommodations, fabulous, the food was way too delicious. We highly recommend this trip to anybody and kept toasting Costco along with three other couples for the way they put this trip together it was really brilliant thank you so much for your help with all our questions and how quickly you got back to us for each inquiry you are very efficient at your job. Thank you so much! On another note, on the safari, Francois put together a surprise celebration luncheon at their treehouse to celebrate our daughter Kate's medical school graduation. It was truly amazing and we couldn't have been happier or more appreciative of all they did. It was so special and they put so much effort into it—leaving champagne, a beautiful lunch, and also baking a cake just for this occasion! It was such a nice, wonderful touch and made for a fabulous memory!

It was absolutely fabulous.

It was absolutely fabulous. Marataba is an experience beyond words. The animals speak for themselves but the lodge is extraordinary. Capetown was lovely but Marataba is an impossible act to precede. We will be recommending you and your colleagues without reservation and with the greatest enthusiasm.

Despite the “World” in its name, Lion World Travel is all about African safaris and tours, promising “extraordinary experiences of affordable luxury” from East Africa down to South Africa. You can choose between group travel and individual itineraries, where you can mix and match as you please. Along with wildlife safaris, for instance, Lion World Travel can set you up with a luxury train trip (such as South Africa’s Blue Train) on your itinerary or into a luxury resort on an island in the Indian Ocean.   What Makes Lion World Travel Stand Out? Lion World Travel has more than 50 years of experience running tours and safaris in Africa. While it’s now part of the giant Travel Corporation and is headquartered in Toronto, its roots are in Africa, and the company maintains offices and a full staff on the ground in Africa. They know their stuff, including the top lodges and tented safari camps – where they negotiate the best prices for their customers. Lion World Travel also includes airfare and/or single traveler specials in many of its trips, making them more affordable. Guides in the field are top-notch. Who Will Enjoy Traveling with Lion World Travel? Lion World Travel is the perfect tour company for travelers who are after the classic luxury safari experience, but perhaps find the pricing for this kind of experience prohibitive from a lot of other luxury safari operators. A luxury safari conjurs up images of comfortable lodges keeping out the bugs, sunsets with silhouettes of elephant and giraffe in the distance, cocktails on the veranda, and five star dining. This is exactly what you’ll experience with Lion World Travel - in addition of course to the incredible daytime activities out on the savannah in a comfortable (or as comfortable as possible) safari jeep vehicle encountering incredible species after another. Lion World also doesn’t skimp on the cultural aspects of visiting Africa. Especially due to their legacy - with many strong relationships formed with local people over - you’ll feel a sense of warmth and welcoming. Families, honeymooners, single travelers, and food and wine aficionados are all welcomed with special itineraries and deals. “Platinum Itineraries” are offered for those seeking luxury all the way. Top Destinations Lion World Travel runs safaris and other trips in 12 countries in East and southern Africa, including two Indian Ocean island groups, Mauritius and the Seychelles. On the mainland, you can explore the wildlife parks and other attractions of Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, South Africa, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Mozambique, Rwanda, and Namibia. Lion World Travel Style The Lion World Travel style allows you to either choose a set itinerary for a small group tour – such as “Victoria Falls and Botswana,” “South Africa Culinary and Wildlife,” or “Luxury Tanzania” (including the Serengeti) – or put together your own custom made itinerary with Lion’s Africa experts there to advise you. Once you’re there, expect a luxurious feel with top notch friendly service, and excellent food and drink. While luxury accomodations are a big part of traveling with Lion World Travel, they are also all about making sure you experience the best the Africa has to offer. Safaris take advantage of full days, departing at 6am returning for a bit of rest and heading out again to observe the nocturnal behavior out on the savannah. The day might wind down with a glass of champagne but not before you’ve taken to the air in a hot air balloon! Why Choose an Africa Tour With Lion World Travel?   Lion World Travel combines more than five decades of experience in Africa with the resources and backing of the Travel Corporation, which owns two dozen respected travel brands, including Trafalgar, Insight Vacations, and Uniworld river cruises. If you’re seeking a well-organized luxury safari with good value, this might be the company for you.

I had the most amazing experience in Kenya with African Travel

I had the most amazing experience in Kenya with African Travel. We traveled around the country for 8 days and had the PERFECT vacation. From the schedule we kept to do our game drives and the utterly relaxing tented camps we stayed in, it was absolutely the best vacation all around. We saw lions, rhinos, elephants, giraffes, zebra - sometimes from the balcony of our tent! Such a fabulous trip that really let us connect and recharge. I cannot wait to go back and explore more of Africa with African Travel!

My daughter’s France trip was cancelled due to COVID. Told we could roll over to a new trip in 2021. My daughter is not comfortable traveling nor do we as her parents feel it will be safe so we cancelled. We were told $650 of the almost $4,000 paid was non refundable. We were told this was due to the many expenses they already incurred. Maybe ACIS needs to rethink their business plan or at least it seems like they are the ones that need insurance to cover these expenses they said they incurred and weren’t refunded. Instead they are keeping the money of many hard working families. Money paid for an experience our children NEVER received. So sorry I ever agreed to this trip and will NEVER consider another tour from this company for any of my children. These companies should not be allowed to practice business in this manner. Shameful.

When I signed my daughter up to go to France (in 2021) I was told that I would get a full refund as long as the trip was cancelled before 65 days prior to the departure date. With everything that has happened with the pandemic, it just isn’t feasible for my family to spend this amount of money.

Acis has responded that the cancellation fee is $350, AND it would only be a travel voucher for another date. (From the acis site- Given the uncertainties that may exist around international travel in the year ahead, we’re making an exception to our standard cancellation policies. We’ve extended our most generous cancellation/refund amounts that are usually in place until 130 days before departure all the way until 65 days before departure.“

Guess we won’t use this system again.

Please ask yourself why a bunch of recent four star reviews just happened to show up on the site all at the same time. This appears to be the result of a coordinated effort to manipulate what is being seen on the site and to push back bad reviews from those that had horrendous experiences with ACIS. Please don't be fooled.

ACIS is an amazing student travel company. We have used them for about 10 years and have never had a negative experience. They go to great lengths to make sure our students have a great experience. They are easy to work with and know how to plan a trip that holds each student's interest.

The ACIS representative that works with us (Jill) is AMAZING. She makes the trip planning (which could be an intimidating, tedious process) into something fun. In fact, I actually look forward to planning with her.

In March 2020, when we were on one of their student trips to Europe, travel was shut down and they managed the very complicated and tense situation perfectly. They juggled complex travel arrangements and connections for us and ushered us back to America quickly and safely. While doing that, they also made efforts to maintaining as much of the trip as possible so our students continued to get great experiences even as plans were being made to bring them back to the U.S.

ACIS might not be the cheapest student travel company, but you definitely get what you pay for...hotels close to the city centers (so you don't spend your precious trip hours commuting through traffic), very cool cultural experiences that are a great change of pace from all the major tourist attractions you see, and tour leaders who thoroughly know the countries you're visiting AND know how to hold a student's attention.

I can't recommend ACIS strongly enough!

My students, another teacher, and I took a trip to Spain and France that started at the end of Feb. and went through the first week in March around the time Covid 19 was just beginning to become a news topic. We were very lucky that everything went beautifully and ACIS handled it all very well. It ended up being one of the greatest trips ever, especially in Paris because many people were staying home and the crowds in Versailles and the Louvre were so small that we were able to easily do both in record time on the same day. We got a wonderful picture of our group in the hall of mirrors with just our group in the room! Our hotels were wonderful and so was all the food as usual. All of the sites we visited were interesting and the kids enjoyed enough free time to explore and shop everywhere we went. Our guide was absolutely the greatest. She worked so hard to make it a good experience for us. I can't wait until we can all get back to traveling the way we want to. ACIS is a great company and I plan to use them again as soon as I can.

Fantástico! ACIS is a 5-star travel company dedicated to bringing the classroom around the world. From my Boston Tour Consultant, Tom Hieghan, administrative support staff of Julie Fratarcangeli and Laura Smart, to my Tour Manager, Nil in Spain ACIS didn't disappoint at all. I have been traveling and referring ACIS for over 25 years and I can't be more pleased with the professionalism, expertise, personal touch and overall service I have received. It's outstanding! This past February '20, I lead my students to Spain and my students, chaperones and parents are still talking about it! In fact, a beautiful framed collage of our Andalucían Adventure is in my classroom. Superb would be the adjective to describe the entire experience with ACIS. I look forward to planning and working with Tom in the future. Gracias!
