What travelers are saying

"Visions of Japan was our first international trip ever, so we were nervous, but as it turns out, we had no reason to be - everything went so smoothly! Our guide was wonderful and knowledgeable, the driver was skilled, and the hotels were beautiful. All the stops were fun and amazing. It was a great 'get your feet wet' tour of Japan. I highly recommend it! You're in good hands with Globus."

Getting in Shape for Torres del Paine

One of the many compelling features of a Torres del Paine tour is the fact that almost anyone with a mild level of physical fitness can tackle the shorter of the park’s famous multi-day circuits, the “W.” Avid hikers at home probably won’t have to train too much more than usual to be able to accomplish the trek while remaining in high spirits.

However, if your fitness regime is more of the “weekend warrior” variety, you might have to step up your training a bit in the weeks prior to your Torres del Paine tour.

There are training plans to be found online (always check in with your doctor before starting any new fitness regime), most of which span 10-12 weeks and include combinations of biking, running, walking and hiking and some strengthening exercises.

Top 5 Training Tips for Torres del Paine Trekking

  • Hike, walk or run with weights in a backpack, or use the adjustable incline on a treadmill.
  • Crosstrain with less joint-jarring activities, like swimming or cycling.
  • Rest at least once a week to give your body time to recover and repair itself.
  • Break in your hiking boots and backpack so you can address any fit problems before you’re at the head of the trail.
  • Study a map of the “W” circuit - although well marked, it will help to have a mental picture of what you’re tackling before and as you’re on it.
